Why go travelling?

  • See the world.
Many of us have watched travel shows and then sat daydreaming about the amazing world around us wondering how to go about exploring such incredible places. Gap Year For Grown Ups provides hundreds of exciting, well -organised programmes allowing you to travel easily and safely all around the world.

  • Experience new things.
By travelling to different countries you will be able to soak up diverse cultures and lifestyles with even a short break providing you with an insight into the way in which people across the globe live.

  • Take a career break.
Most employers agree that taking a break from your work routine has a positive effect on your career. A career break gives you time out to think and evaluate your life. You will return with new ideas and ready for new challenges. Increasingly employers are becoming open to the idea of providing their employees with extended leave to allow them to fulfil their dream of seeing the world. Don't forget that you can have an incredible experience even you can only take a few weeks off work.

  • Enjoy your retirement.
You may have heard about students heading off on their 'gap year', but Gap Year For Grown Ups has questioned why it's just the young people who have all the fun! Post retirement is the perfect time to travel as you move from one stage of your life to another. You may also have a clear idea of where you want to go and what you want to see and do - and if not, the Gap Year For Grown Ups team are on hand to help!

  • Enjoy your annual leave.
You don't need to take an extended period of time out to enjoy a Gap Year For Grown Ups programme. Many of the opportunities that we offer are for as little as two weeks, so rather than lying on a beach for two weeks or taking a city break, why not volunteer with kids in Asia, work with wildlife in Africa, learn Spanish in Latin America or go hiking in New Zealand!

  • Learn new skills.
During your career break or time out you will no doubt spend time exploring, relaxing and having fun, but why not take the opportunity to learn a new skill in a new environment? Through Gap Year For Grown Ups you can learn a new language; teach English; work on community construction projects; assist on wildlife and conservation projects and much more.

  • Share your experience.
Communities around the world need your help and everyone has something to offer. You may hold a particular skill such as carpentry or building, or you may be an experienced teacher, but as long as you have determination and an open mind you hold the key skills that can be used everywhere.

  • Meet new people.
By taking a career break or some time out to travel you will meet people from all backgrounds. On a Gap Year For Grown Ups project you will not only be volunteering and travelling with like-minded people, but wherever possible you will also be closely connected to local communities.
