Programme Details

The black rhino was pushed to the brink of extinction by the actions of illegal poachers in the 1970s and 1980s who coveted the valuable rhino horns. Noble efforts to protect and manage rhino populations throughout the 1990s have resulted in a stabilisation and slow recovery of the continental population, particularly in the southern African rhino strongholds of South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine contribution towards the continued protection of this ancient animal.

You will play an active role in rehabilitating these endangered animals and preparing them for a safe return to their natural environment, while you yourself have a life changing and enriching experience.

You will have the privilege of seeing the incredible interaction of different species, hearing their sounds, recording vital details and information, and learning to appreciate the simple lifestyles of local communities.

You will take part in:

  • Anti-poaching patrols
  • Monitor animal behaviour and interaction
  • Help look after Black Rhinos
  • Help look after and train elephants
  • Go on an elephant back safari
  • Snare sweeping

If you are a photography enthusiast, you will have the chance to get exceptional photographs of wildlife within a close proximity.
