Zimbabwe Lion Rehabilitation Victoria Falls

Trip code: ZILBV
A volunteer with lions

The project places great emphasis on education initiatives and a significant part of your work will involve passing on your knowledge of African wildlife conservation onto young children in local schools. You will also have the opportunity to spend some time at an elephant orphanage, working alongside these magnificent animals.

This amazing project was featured in ITV’s innovative six-part series, Lion Country. You can follow in the footsteps of leading British conservationist David Youldon and make your contribution to the preservation of Africa’s lions, as well as getting up close to stars of the show – feline and human!

Your Typical Itinerary

Your project managers are responsible for organizing your daily activities, which will vary from day to day depending on whether you are with the lions, working with the local community or at the horse & elephant stables.  Please note; you will not be working with the lions every day as other activities such as community and conservation development are an integral part of our programme.

A typical day with the lions may look like this:

06.30 – 09.00:
Join a lion walk with clients, or spend time in camp with the younger cubs, preparing their feed

09:00: Breakfast

10:00–12.00:
Duties that may include enclosure-cleaning, data capture, feeding the cubs or heading to the local community development initiative.

12:00:
Lunch

14:00-18.00:
Afternoon duties activities may include community project work, games and education with local children, lion interaction or enclosure maintenance.

19:00:
Dinner

Please note: Itineraries and activities are subject to change
