Calling all teachers...
What are you doing in your school holidays?

Where are your pupils being whisked away to this year? Florida? Tenerife? Australia?!

What Gap Year for Grown Ups is asking is: why should they be the only ones to have an exciting holiday? You've spent just as much time at school as them - more in fact, so why not reward yourself with a short break that's miles away, literally and possibly metaphorically, from school?

If you feel you can pass on the skills you've developed as a teacher, there are plenty of children, adults and animals that would be very glad of your time. You'll get a change of scenery and culture and will hopefully go back to school bursting with ideas and enthusiasm for the new term. (On the first day, anyway!)

Gap Year for Grown Ups offers programmes from just six days, so a trip could fit around anything you need to do for school. And prices start at £399.
Calling all teachers - Do something amazing in your summer holidays

Wildlife
Swap human charges for animal ones! Volunteers can look after everything from monkeys in South Africa (£849 for two weeks) to turtles in Guatemala (£399 for two weeks). You can also do valuable conservation work at sites across the world - like helping protect elephants in Namibia (£799 for two weeks). The work is less hands-on than in centres but every bit as rewarding. And living back-to-basics style makes it an unforgettable experience.

Community Development
Communities all over the world are in need of enthusiastic, motivated people to help them improve their lives. Try your hand at Kenya Camp Life (£935 for two weeks), and help build or restore some much-needed facilities. You can do similar work on the India Community Development project (£629 for two weeks), or get involved with increasing awareness of health and hygiene. A luxurious lifestyle it won't be, but it's likely to be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

Marine conservation
If water's your thing, and you're lucky enough to have a PADI qualification, you can work on a marine conservation and investigation project set up to protect corals off the coast of Ecuador (£1,099 for four weeks). If not, you can take a basic certificate in four days, for $450 (around £230). The sound of parrotfish chomping on coral will soon replace any screams that still ring in your ears!

Sport
Build on the skills you learned as a child or try a completely new sport. There's nothing quite like learning to sail around the Whitsunday Islands (£499 for six days/five nights) to help you forget about lesson plans and long division. And if you go for Australia Tall Ship Sailing (from £399 for six nights), getting an even tan can be your biggest worry.
What are you doing on your summer holiday?

For something a little more energetic - in equally as sumptuous surroundings - how about scuba diving? Take your first two diving qualifications off the island of Koh Tao, in the Gulf of Thailand (£699 for two weeks).

Discover
Get a unique insight into a country with Gap Year for Grown Up experiences in Latin America. You can spend four weeks on the Bolivia experience, for example, visiting marvels such as Salar de Uyuni, the world's biggest salt lake, volunteering, mingling with the locals and learning how to cook and dance Bolivian-style (£999 for four weeks). Now if that's not a contender for show and tell...

Teach?
If you'd like to put your teaching skills to use in a completely different environment, there are thousands of children and adults who are desperate to learn everything from English to sports. Anything you'd like to teach them, really! Be prepared for large but incredibly enthusiastic classes.

Have fun!
Our projects are based amid some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. So apart from feeling that you've done something worthwhile, you'll have plenty of free time and opportunities to see sights that have to be seen to be believed.

For more information about any of our programmes, or for suggestions on how to fill your holidays, call a Gap Year for Grown Ups travel adviser on 01892 701881 and remember to ask about discounts for teachers!
