New Programmes from Gap Year for Grown UpsNew Programmes from Gap Year for Grown Ups!

At Gap Year for Grown Ups, we're constantly expanding our list of career break options, especially the volunteer projects.

Countries such as those within Africa, Asia and Latin America are always in need of volunteer help. Our aim is to help meet that demand and our ever-growing list of projects reflects that. Whatever your background, experience or qualifications, you can give something back to communities who lack even the most basic of amenities.

If you would to like to learn, travel, do some sport or just relax on your career break, there are plenty of opportunities to do that, too.

These are some of our newest programmes. Keep checking the Gap Year for Grown Ups website for the latest ones.

How does Gap Year for Grown Ups programmes make a difference?
It's always nice to be able to show the results of volunteer work, and at Gap Year for Grown Ups, we can do that. For example, after a project was set up in Costa Rica to protect sea turtles, the egg and hatchling survival rate increased to just over 90 per cent. Twelve months before the programme began, poaching levels were approaching 95 per cent. The improvement has been made because of the time volunteers spend patrolling the beach and helping hatchlings to reach the sea safely.

Over in Africa, volunteers are helping to provide a community in the Shimba Hills of Kenya with fresh drinking water. Their work to clear the springs, lay the foundations and build water tanks is making this happen.

Projects like these show what can be done when people dedicate time and effort to helping people less fortunate than themselves. We support sustainable development, and try to respond to changes in demand, providing help where it's most needed.
